    ES: Yes, mostly. Our music was wiped off the charts when British groups like The Beatles came along, but I was never bitter — we had a really good run from 1960 to 1964. We bought the house in East Rockaway in 1964. Jeannie and I had two babies and one on the way by then, and I needed a job. I took every civil service test there was … I took the first offer, which was for the New York Transit Police. I ended up staying for 26-and-a-half years!
     
    H: But you were still performing?
    ES: Yes … I was juggling two careers … we needed the money then, our medical bills were higher than the mortgage. It was like trying to hold water in your hands and letting it slip through … I didn’t realize that there was a master plan … the man upstairs was looking out for us. I was guided down this path. I retired as a sergeant in 1991 with a great pension.
     
    H: And now you’re singing full time?
    ES: Yes, the door to my singing career really took off. I played over 100 dates in ’91, and then it just mushroomed from there, and it hasn’t stopped — and the venues got better. We’ve played the Nassau Coliseum, The Meadowlands, Westbury Music Fair, Radio City Mu
