On August 19th, PD Cho Hyo Jin of SBS’s ‘Running Man‘ sat down for an interview with Star News and shared his praise for actress Shin Se Kyung.

The actress is known for being low-profile, so it was a pleasant surprise for fans to hear that she recently guested on the hit variety show.

PD Cho Hyo Jin began, “We were recently able to work with Shin Se Kyung on ‘Running Man’. Yoo Jae Suk-ssi was in a team with her, and throughout the shoot, he repeatedly said, ‘Se Kyung is so funny.’”

The PD continued, “I’ve always known Shin Se Kyung for her coy image, but after working with her, I was able to see just how outgoing and hard working she is. She also surprised our staff with her daring nature. Overall, it was an extremely fun and enjoyable recording.”

When asked why they recorded the episode all the way in Jeju Island, he replied, “Jeju Island is currently receiving a lot of interest for being nominated as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Since the weather was great, we decided to capture its beauty. We filmed in an area that isn’t well-known by tourists, so please look forward to it.”

Shin Se Kyung’s episode will broadcast on August 21st.

One of the most important things, for me, in a fantasy story is the world building. I have to be convinced that such world exists before I let the story suck me in. This series has introduced me to the universe where two realms exist: the one where humans live and the other where gods are. The Realm of the Gods, as they call it, is composed of Water, Sky, and Earth countries. Each sends guardian gods to the human world to protect the nature.

The Bride of the Water God managed to smoothly weave its fantasy elements to the story and avoid looking like it was forced. It also set the groundwork for the plot and character arcs. So far, the Water Country is the only god realm presented.

It’s Ha Baek, not Excuse Me

He is Ha Baek, the water god, to be king of the water country, and to be emperor of the Realm of the Gods (I guess, god royalties also use three-sentence-long official title haha.) Ha Baek (Nam Joo-hyuk) was first introduced in his world, the Water Country. This is a good introduction for me as it later justifies his haughtiness in the human world. The plot was an obvious ‘fish out of the water’ story so it made sense to present the world he was used to
